Strategically located at the gateway to Scandinavia and the Baltic area, the Øresund Region is rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s dynamic centres. Here flourishing high-tech sectors, strong emphasis on R&D and education and world-class infrastructure, including the new Øresund bridge between Denmark and Sweden, come together to form a region for the 21st century.
Comprising both the Danish and Swedish sides of the Strait of Øresund, the Øresund Region is Northern Europe’s new dynamic region. Between them the two sides of the Øresund Region offer a vast array of cultural events and leisure activities. From clean water, white sandy beaches, romantic castles and forests to welcoming inns, vibrant bars and world class concerts and theatre, the Øresund Region offers visitors and residents alike a rich and varied lifestyle.
Backed by solid economic performances in both countries, the Øresund Region provides a firm platform for business expansion – for Scandinavian companies as well as for the increasing number of foreign companies that have decided to set up business on either side.
In fact, measured by GDP alone the Øresund Region is Europe’s eighth largest, ahead of Berlin and Hamburg. Moreover, growth in the Øresund Region is expected to benefit to the tune of US$ 5 billion from synergies deriving from the integration of the Danish and Swedish sides. Overall, this places the Øresund Region in a strong position to achieve a position among the three-four top European growth areas over the next decade.
